On April 22, Gamma Nu held our first annual Pastries with Professors event. Held at the Phi Mu on campus house, from 4-5 pm professors who were personally invited by our sisters came to the house for an hour of homemade bread, cookies, tarts, and pink lemonade. Professors were greeted at the door and had the opportunity to fill out name tags as they started
conversations with our members. The house quickly filled with energetic conversations as everyone munched on pastries while talking to their favorite professors outside of the classroom. Academic Excellence Chair, Meghan Brindley, could not have been happier about how the event turned out.
“This was the first “Pastries with Professors” event that Phi Mu has put on. Our idea behind the event was to better the relationships that Phi Mu has with Elon’s professors by creating a more informal and relaxed environment (surrounded by homemade desserts!). I was extremely happy with the turnout and simply overwhelmed by how much fun our sisters had mingling with the professors. My goal is make this a semiannual event each semester.” — Meghan Brindley.
We hope the professors had as much fun as we did at the event and look forward to having another one next semester!
Every year Gamma Nu participates in ELONTHON to support Phi Mu’s national philanthropy, Children’s Miracle Network. This year the ladies of Gamma Nu raised over $15,000, being recognized at the closing ceremony as one of biggest donators! We prepared ourselves for the big event by having groups visit Duke’s Children Hospital, making personal connections with the hospital and our cause. Our women danced together and mingled with the families while creating long-lasting memories throughout the 24-hour dance marathon. Phi Mu Gamma Nu, was represented by multiple 24-hour dancers who shined throughout the night with their positive and sparkling energy while also having numerous members be part of the executive committee. We are proud to say as a chapter we were able to contribute to the grand total of $212, 728, knowing that the money raised will continue to create miracles.
